FAQs
What are your fees?
I charge different fees for different types of therapy. They are as follows:
Adult integrative art psychotherapy - £65
Young person’s integrative art therapy - £75
EMDR therapy - £80
Clinical supervision - £65
All sessions are 50 minutes long. Sometimes, we might decide it would be more helpful and productive to have EMDR sessions which are an hour long. In these circumstances, we can discuss a small addional fee.
I offer reduced rates for art psychotherapy students in training. Please contact me for more information.
How do I book a session?
I recommend booking a free consultation first so we can have a chat to see if we would like to work together.
You can email me to arrange a consultation. If you choose to work with me, we will agree a session time which suits you. This time will be reserved and we will meet the same time every week.
How often would we have sessions together?
If we decide to work together, we would meet once a week. During our initial meeting together, I will ask some questions to find out more about you, what brings you to therapy and which issues you would like to focus on.
What will we do in an art psychotherapy session?
Art psycotherapy involves both image and/or object making and talking therapy. As a client, you will make art and talk (which may be done at the same time) or you can make art in silence if that’s your preference. I have a wide variety of materials for you to use and experiment expressing yourself with.
As the therapist, I will sit quietly and pay attention while you make art or I might make art alongside you, depending on your needs during each session. We will also talk and think together to make sense of the thoughts, feelings and experiences that come up during your art-making or when we look at your artwork together.
You might not make art every session and some sessions may primarily involve talking therapy. I will be guided by your preferences and create sessions which work for you as an individual.
Do I need to be good at art to do art therapy?
No, you do not need to have any previous experience or expertise in art to benefit from art therapy. Art psychotherapy isn’t a recreational activity or an art lesson, it is a way to explore your processes and psyche in a contained, non-judgemental space. Although we are likely to be exploring difficult and painful things, the art making in sessions can be enjoyable and grounding.
What is EMDR therapy ?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a comprehensive psychotherapy that can help you process and recover from traumatic past experiences that are affecting your mental health and wellbeing.
It involves using bilateral stimulation (either with a light bar or hand held buzzers) combined with talking therapy in a specific and structured format.
EMDR was developed – and is best known – as a therapy for treating trauma or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
How can I verify your qualifications?
You can verify my qualifications by searching my name on the HCPC registry online. I am also registered with BAAT and you can find me by searching their directory of art psychotherapists.
Is there a waiting area?
There is a waiting area for parents or guardians if they wish to stay in the building while sessions take place. This area is in a communal space and the distance from the studio ensures privacy and confidentiality.
Please do not arrive to sessions early as I need to let you in and may not be available before your session start time.
Is the studio accessible?
Unfortunately, the studio is not wheelchair accessible as there are 3 single steps to access the space.
The studio is on the ground floor along with toilet facilities and is suitable for people who may struggle with flights of stairs.
Is there parking at the studio?
